The American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) awards several scholarships to students studying engineering degrees that could lead to work in the heating, air conditioning, ventilation, or refrigeration fields.

To be eligible, you must have at least a 3.0 GPA, be in the top 30% of your class, and be enrolled in or planning to enroll in an accredited engineering program. Top applicants will plan on entering the HVAC&R field (though you aren’t tied to going into HVAC&R if you get a scholarship), excellence in both character and leadership, and financial need.

3. John Lenard Civil Engineering Scholarship

A maximum of two awards worth around $2,000 each will be given to college students who are focusing on water supply or environmental engineering in their studies. Though this scholarship is not renewable, you may apply for and win it more than once. To be eligible, you must be majoring in civil engineering and be a member of ASCE.

You will need to submit an application form; a personal statement that details because you should receive the scholarship, your financial need, and your plans for your education; an essay on how civil engineering can improve the environment; official transcripts; a resume; and at least two letters of recommendation.

4. EDSF Scholarship for International students in Computer Science & Engineering and Graphic & Media Communications

The Electronic Document Scholarship Foundation – EDSF scholarship program was initiated in 1999 to recognize and support the next generation of professionals for the Document Management and Graphic Communication industry. EDSF scholarships of $1000 to $5,000 USD one-time payment are awarded to full-time undergraduates in accredited colleges or universities anywhere in the world who are committed to pursuing a career in the Document Management and Graphic Communications marketplace.

5. Allen and Loreena Weber Scholarship

Sponsored by the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) Education Foundation, the Allen and Loreena Weber Scholarship is granted annually for $1,500 to full-time undergraduate students who are enrolled in an accredited degree program for manufacturing engineering, mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, or engineering technology. Eligible candidates must have completed at least 30 college credits, carry a minimum overall GPA of 3.0, possess technical aptitude, and demonstrate a desire for practical learning in engineering.

6. Future Engineers Scholarship Program

Funded by Kelly Services, the Future Engineers Scholarship Program is hosted annually to award $5,000 to full-time undergraduate students who are currently enrolled in an accredited higher learning institution in the United States or Canada to receive a bachelor’s degree in engineering. Eligible applicants must be accepted into the School of Engineering, have attained sophomore or junior-level standing, carry a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0, and demonstrate potential for success in the engineering field. Students must submit a candidate background information form, a maximum 1,200-word personal essay, two recommendation forms, and official college transcripts.

7. Society of Women Engineers Scholarships

Ranging from $500 to $10,000 apiece, the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) has created 230 annual scholarships to financially support outstanding female students who are preparing for careers in engineering, engineering technology, and computer science in ABET-accredited programs. Generally, candidates must be pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree, attend university in the United States or Mexico, possess a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0, and demonstrate financial need. Online scholarship applications must always include a current official transcript, proof of enrolment, an up-to-date resume, and two recommendation letters.

8. SPIE Scholarship in Optical Science and Engineering

SPIE offers Optics and Photonics Education Scholarships and Travel Scholarships for students located anywhere in the world, from high school (pre-university/secondary) through graduate school and PhD programs, who are studying or planning to study optics, photonics or related field. The Optics and Photonics Education Scholarships are for high school, pre-university, secondary school, undergraduate and graduate students. The scholarship awards are in varying amounts ranging from $2,000 to $11,000.

9. Japanese Government Scholarships for Undergraduate & Masters International Students
